The SPIEL 2023, which took place from 5 to 8 October at the Essen Exhibition Center, was a gathering hub for the board game community. The event attracted a diverse crowd, with participants from 56 countries.

Throughout the show, attendees explored a variety of gaming experiences, including collaborative and one-person games, as well as new offerings for both children and adults. Despite the challenges posed by the global crisis and supply chain issues, the passion for games remained undiminished, fueling growth and innovation within the industry.

During the event, the innoSPIEL award recognized outstanding innovation in game mechanisms and materials. Additionally, Research Day and Educators’ Day provided platforms for professionals to engage in meaningful discussions about trends and shifts in the board game sector.
