About this Edition
The 56th edition of Art Basel took place in June 2026 at Messe Basel, welcoming the global art market for a face-to-face meeting. The expo was held from 18 to 21 June, with preview days on 16 and 17 June. Artists, collectors, curators, galleries, museums, and visitors explored a rich variety of art, focusing on works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Nearly 290 galleries from over 40 countries participated, alongside more than 250 museums and cultural institutions. Over 4,000 recognized artists showcased their artworks, representing diverse styles and visions. The event attracted more than 88,000 visitors and art lovers, with private collectors coming from over 95 countries and regions.
Art Basel 2026 featured several distinct areas, including Galleries, Feature, Unlimited, Messeplatz Project, Statements, Premiere, Parcours, Edition, and Kabinett. The Unlimited platform hosted unique, large-scale installations and curated selections.
The event fostered art exploration, business connections, and learning opportunities. Numerous exhibitions throughout Basel complemented the fair, providing exciting experiences for attendees. The Art Basel Awards, following a successful pilot edition in 2025, also drew significant attention during this edition.
